Frequently Asked Questions
How are fees calculated on eBay Motors?
Fees vary based on what package of options you choose for your listing. Depending on the volume of vehicles you sell in a year, there is also the ability to forgo a package set of options so that you can select individual options. Making use of an ebay motors calculator to handle these complex rules is a good idea.
What percentage does eBay Motors take?
As far as fees go when selling vehicles on eBay Motors, most are small fixed fees but there is one percentage based fee called the deposit processing fee which is 2.8% of the deposit. This fee only exists if you choose to require a deposit in the listing and successfully sell your vehicle. This ebay motors calculator provides the estimated fees you can expect to see.
Details about eBay Motors Fees
Fees are much simpler when selling vehicles on eBay Motors when compared to selling anything else on ebay, which involves a final value fee that varies based on a multitude of factors.
These fees, which are mostly all fixed fees with the exception of the deposit processing fee, can be separated and organized based on the sale price, the item category chosen for the listing, and the volume of vehicles you sell in a year.
Seller Type Based on Volume
Your listing options will vary based on your seller type which is based on the volume of vehicles you sell in a year.
If you list up to six vehicles in a calendar year (January 1 to December 31), ebay considers you to be a low-volume seller.
If you list seven or more vehicles in any calendar year, then ebay considers you to be a high-volume seller. Each time you submit a vehicle listing or relist a vehicle, ebay counts that as one listing. Once you become a high-volume seller, you'll keep that status permanently, year after year.
Selection of Listing Options
The selection of options depend on whether you're using the quick listing tool or the business tool. Low-volume sellers only get access to the quick listing tool which offers a choice of listing packages while high-volume sellers also get access to that along with the business tool which allows them to choose individual options as opposed to selecting a listing package.
If you decide to go for a package, your ebay fees will simply be the cost of the package plus a deposit processing fee, should you decide to require a deposit on the listing.

Again, high-volume sellers have a choice between using the quick listing tool and the business tool.
If you're a high-volume seller and using the business tool as opposed to the quick listing tool, your fees won't be a single package cost, but instead it will be composed of an insertion fee, a listing fee, and optional listing upgrade fees.
Insertion and Successful Listing Fees when using the Business Tool
- These fees only apply when using the business tool, which is only available for high-volume sellers.
- The insertion fee is charged when you create a listing.
- The successful listing fee is charged when your vehicle is sold.
